15-degree aspects in the progressed chart

Given that so many astrologers already use various aspects of 15-degree increments like the 45°/semi-square, the 135°/sesquisquare, and some have become aware of the 165° so-called Quindecile, it seems only natural to add other 15° aspects. However, these are most often not included as options in astrology software. The 15°, 75°, 105°, and 165° aspects are most often not included as options. (SolarFire does, however).

I recently posted how to quickly find these 15-degree aspects.

Today I want to give an example using my own chart. Recently I’ve had some pretty penetrating communications and what seems like a real window of opportunity for effective strategy sessions with local community members with common interests. Confrontations in online forums over philosophical differences with fellow astrologers; breakthroughs in my futuristic fiction writing; very politicized discussions regarding housing with local activists and renters.

The only aspect that directly relates to this in my progressed chart is prog Mercury [16N36] Parallel prog Pluto [16N38], applying, as seen here:

There are only about 4 exact or near exact progressed aspects in my chart now, and this is the only major aspect (conjunction, parallel, square, opposition, contra-parallel, or quincunx).

However, in the last couple days the communicative interactions with others — at least their reactions to me — has been disporportionately emotional. In looking at the same planetary positions again we see something else:

Progressed Moon 15° from progressed Pluto, applying (orb=0°02′).

Pluto 24VIR41
– 15°00′
= 9VIR41

There is circumstantial evidence this Lunar progressed aspect was in effect two days ago when the orb would have been around 0°06′ applying.

This shows the prog Moon in the 12th house of my chart in near exact 15-degree aspect to prog Pluto in the 1st house. As we know, the 12th house deals with opposition from those who won’t face you directly, but hide behind roles, monikers, or in some way conceal their identity, actions, or motivations. 1st house has to do with my person/identity. This began a couple days ago when prog Moon was 0°04′ from exact 15-degree aspect with prog Pluto. So for a few more days I expect that this may continue. But I will probably allow it to just blow over without responding further. Moon-Pluto combinations often lack all rationality and deal with unconscious emotional forces that are actually not relevant to the issue or situation at hand.

NOTE: I had to remove my question about whether you see another 15-degree aspect here, because I failed to include the natal points that would show the aspect when compared to the progressed points. Sorry about that! Hope it didn’t befuddle anybody.

15-degree aspects can be found easily for any point or planet. Just subtract 15° from a point/planet’s position if it is past 15°. Add 15° if the point/planet position is earlier than 15°. Then, if anything is within a few minutes arc of exact in the progressed chart, or within 1-2° of exact in the birth chart, and you’ve got an aspect. Count up the total degree difference to see what particular 15-degree aspect it is.
